Ocho Rios Orientation

Welcome to Ocho Rios!

Ocho Rios is reached by road from either of the island's two international airports, Montego Bay's Donald Sangster International Airport located about ninety minutes from Ocho Rios, or Kingston's Norman Manley International Airport located about two and a half hours from Ocho Rios.

Ocho Rios is a busy cruise ship port and offers extensive shopping and dining options. Many high-end all-inclusive resorts are located here. Just outside of downtown are two popular tourist attractions: Dunn's River Falls and Dolphin Cove.

East of Ocho Rios is Oracabessa in St. Mary, one of Jamaica's fastest growing resort areas. Visitors there can see James Bond Beach, which is where scenes from the classic James Bond movie Goldfinger were shot. The area is also the location of Goldeneye, the house of Ian Fleming, the creator of the James Bond series.

Heading west visitors will find Runaway Bay featuring luxury hotels, golf courses and private villas. One of the main tourist attractions in Runaway Bay is Green Grotto Caves. There, visitors can see the largest caves on the island, estimated to be about half-million years old.

Further west is Discovery Bay where it was once thought that Christopher Columbus first set foot on Jamaican soil. The Columbus Park in the area is filled with artifacts including 18th century canons and a sugar estate aqueduct. The Puerto Seco Beach is a prime beach spot in Discovery Bay where visitors can relax or snorkel if desired.
